Training Facilities
The training facilities available at WMTCP include Simulator Rooms with:
- a full mission engine room simulator
- diagnostic engine simulators
- computer-based simulation for steam turbines governors, governing
systems and centrifugal pumps
The Nautical Rooms include a chart room and several video presentations to conduct passage planning and chart correction courses. The classrooms simulate a ship's chart room including nautical charts and a complete set of nautical publications and equipment required onboard ships.
The Safety Room is equipped with life boat on-load release gear mechanism and videos to demonstrate the different types of gear are installed onboard ships. Breathing apparatus sets and life support appliances are also used in the Safety Room.
Lecture rooms are used to train seafarers in Wallem's Safety Management System (SMS) and MARPOL regulations.
The Computer-based training (CBT) Room is used to train Wallem seafarers in the use of Wallem’s shipboard applications such as the:
- Ship Maintenance and Management System (SMMS)
- Total Procurement System (TPS)
- Safety Incident Reporting and Investigation System (SIRIS)
- Fleet Portage Bill (FPB)
- Electronic Notice of Arrival and Departure (eNOAD)
- Fleet Movement
“Watchkeeper2” and “Catering Administration” was added in 2009.
The Cadet Room is used by cadets in the Cadet Upgrading Programme for improving their knowledge in physics, math, navigation and engineering.
The library and web research room are available for seafarer and cadets’ study needs. The library contains Wallem Shipmanagement required books in addition to many nautical and technical books that can be used for further learning by seafarers and cadets.
The conference room is equipped with a Videotel Video-conferencing installation for safety briefings and safety awareness training conducted remotely by Wallem Shipmanagement staff from Hong Kong.
Additional demonstration material is available for all courses such as tags and bio-degradable garbage bags.
All classrooms are fully air-conditioned.
The Coffee Nook is a break room available for seafarers and cadets to use between classes.
