The Wallem Maritime Training Centre Philippines (WMTCP) was established in April 2006. It was expanded and refurbished in October 2008. In August 2009 a full mission engine simulator was added to the Centre.

The Training Centre is located at the Wallem Building - Intramuros in historic old Manila that is easily accessed by light rail, bus and car.

The Training Centre is purpose-build for Computer Based Training (CBT) applications and CBT Simulators.

The classrooms are modern and equipped with state-of-the art equipment including machinery simulators, projectors, sound installations, video-on-demand by Videotel, lifeboat on-load release gear, chart tables and nautical charts and equipment, breathing apparatus sets and life support gear.

The Training Centre also offers a Cadet Upgrading Programme to improve cadets’ skills and knowledge to meet international standards.

The trainers at the Centre are well-qualified in teaching theory and practice of knowledge and skills onboard modern ships and have many years of seagoing experience.

Wallem has accommodation available for seafarers and cadets at the dormitory "Pagoda" located 150 metres from the Training Centre, and other accommodation is also available in the area.
